中国域名监管机构CNNIC宣布整顿域名注册信息，不再允许个人注册域名。 国内不行，可以走国际路线，不让个人注册域名最终的结果只是让中国的注册商生意减少。但政府显然也意识到这一点，工业和信息化部电信管理局副局长王建文透露，要长效治理境外注册的网站。管理方法不外乎：用技术手段屏蔽，或联合其它国家共同打击互联网违法犯罪活动。
